Clean Energy Development Bank Ltd. (CEDBL) is a national level development bank established under Bank and Financial Institution Act, 2063. CEDBL is in commercial operation since September 2006. The Main Office of CEDBL is located at Sitapaila Chowk, Ring Road, Kathmandu. In technical collaboration with "Winrock International", an international organization working in Nepal in energy sector, and support by USAID, CEDBL has been promoted as an only specialized bank with a primary focus in the development of clean energy and hydropower sector in Nepal. Besides debt financing, the Bank also offers assistance to the clean energy and hydropower projects by way of private equity and advisory and consulting services. The bank also offers wide ranges of banking products and services which includes consumer banking, corporate and institutional banking, rural banking, corporate finances, depository services, remittances, transaction banking, 24 hours ATM, locker services, telephone / mobile phone bill payment facilities and many more. Employee Provident Fund (Karmachari Sanchay Kosh), an entity established to manage the provident fund of the government, public and private sector employees and to help them financially on retirement or separation from their jobs, is the largest institutional promoter of CEDBL. CEDBL has agreements with FMO (Financierings Maatschappij-voor Ontwikkelingslanden), The Netherlands as a Foreign Joint Venture Partner and TREDF (Triodos Renewable Energy for Development Fund), a Renewable Energy Fund managed by Triodos Bank, The Netherlands as a Development Partner. Under the agreement, FMO have invested 14% shares as equity investment in CEDBL. FMO is also extending a subordinated loan upto US Dollars 5 Million through CEDBL to finance clean energy projects in Nepal. Besides, they are also providing an initial amount of USD 500 Thousands as ¿Capacity Building Fund¿ and ¿Access to Energy Fund¿ for capacity building of Micro Finance Institutions dedicated to rural financing in Nepal. CEDBL also has a "Strategic Alliance Agreement" with DFCC Bank, Sri Lanka and DFCC Consulting Private Limited, Sri Lanka. Under this alliance, CEDBL and DFCC Group are working jointly towards identifying and exploring the prospective projects, project due diligence, project appraisal and capacity building relating to renewable and hydropower projects in Nepal.
